A flatter belly does not only make you look great, but it also reduces your risk for developing health-related problems linked to obesity. However, some people are having a hard time jump starting their objective of losing belly fat because they really don’t know how to begin with it. Weight loss product ads and hypes only make losing belly fat all the more confusing and somewhat unrealistic. You may want to watch this video on 5 Foods To Never Eat because it contains some of the nutritional principles that will help you to lose your belly fat.
But with the right information, one will find it motivating to act now and turn that dream of having a flatter belly a reality.
My name is Isabelle Hall, I’m an enthusiastic health evangelist, a loving blogger, and I was a food lover too. This site is my attempt to share with you my remarkable experiences in how I transform my body forever. My body wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be and I had a hard time slimming down in the past. In fact, I used to have ugly looking belly fat that I always wanted to get rid of.
I went in search of ways to get rid of my belly fat. I tried slimming centers, slimming pills, but most of the time, even when I lose a bit of fat, it often came back with a vengeance.
Maybe that’s my fault as I love eating ice cream.
But as I do more research, reading books and asking around for help, I found out some powerful guidelines in losing belly fat.
The following are some practical guidelines in losing belly flat:
1. Steer clear of fad diets – There are only 2 things you need to know about fad diets: they are unrealistic and they don’t work. They may show dramatic results in the beginning all right but, since they are unrealistic, they become extremely difficult to sustain after some time. Many people who have tried their hands on fad diets often ended up with more excess baggage than when they started. How do you know if it’s a fad diet? A successful diet should have been existence for more than 30 years and still continues to work.
2. Minding what you put in your mouth – Portion control and healthy foods are keys to having a flatter stomach. Eating small frequent meals throughout the day, such as 5-6 times a day every 3-4 hours, keeps you energized, revs up your metabolism, and prevents you from experiencing hunger pangs.
However, make sure that you consume healthful foods – vegetables and fruits are some of the healthiest foods ever. Eat lesser meat and you will notice that you would lose your belly fat easily. As much as I love ice cream, please eat as little ice cream as possible as it is one of the main culprit for your belly fat.
3. Get regular cardio exercises – Spot reduction of fat is a myth; you cannot lose fat on a particular area of the body alone. Getting cardio exercises is the only way you can lose belly fat, as well as those excess ones throughout the rest of your body. But it doesn’t have t be a drag and performed only at the gym.
Walking, biking, swimming, dancing and playing basketball with your kids are just some examples of cardio exercises that are both fun and effective.
4. More muscles mean more calories burned – Weight training helps in increasing muscle mass. And muscles are calorie-burning machines – they require lots and lots of calories to maintain themselves. If you want to prevent excess calories from being stored in your body as fats, especially in your belly area, develop your muscles through weight training.
5. Kicking the habit of drinking – Perhaps it is oftentimes that you see people who are generally thin, but got protruding bellies. That’s just the effect of drinking excessive alcohol. Alcohol is packed with calories, and it is in liquid form so you tend to drink a lot in one sitting, without really noticing it. Besides, alcohol stokes up your appetite, so it is likely you will munch on just about anything served before you.
6. Firming your abs – Crunches, leg raises and squats help in keeping your abdominal muscles toned. They will help in giving you a tighter belly and smaller waistline. However, these exercises do not really melt away fats – that’s the role of cardio exercises. Alternating between abdominal workouts and cardio exercises is a great way to achieve a flatter belly.
For many years, many experts were promoting low fat diets, trying to argue that “eating fats is the main reason why you are fat”. However, this is a total myth. The real truth is too much calories from fat is the culprit behind making you fat. And getting the calories from healthy fats is necessary because fats help to protect our body, keep cells functioning properly, and also responsible for the absorption of vitamins and minerals in our body. Nutrients such as beta carotene, Vitamin D and Vitamin E, require fat in order to be absorbed and used by the body.
The key is in choosing the right kind of fats in your diet and making sure you don’t over-exceed the amount that is necessary for your body. Just having 5-10 nuts or half an avocado is sufficient for transporting and aiding the absorption.
